As war rages between Ukraine and Russia: Rishon Letzion's youth fights Antisemitism

Through a unique partnership between FOA and the city of Rishon Letzion, youths all over the city are taking action to remove antisemitic content online.

After completing a successful pilot program last year, FOA and the youth department will collaborate again this year. The foundation meetings that will take place next month will enable the participants to acquire both the theory and the technical knowledge to deal with the online antisemitism phenomena.

The program will take place once a week or twice a month. The sessions will be divided into theoretical and practical sections, including movie making and editing, social media engagement, content monitoring, and of course, community involvement. FOA founder Tomer Aldubi: “During the last few months, we equipped them with additional value by exposing them to this issue, in the most accessible manner, and empowering them as leaders.” This program will provide the tools to create quality content via TikTok, monitor and report antisemitism content, and strategies to fight hate speech. We thank the city of Rishon Letzion for this successful collaboration and call on other municipalities to take part in this vital project.” Future meetings will focus on the rise of hate speech online, specifically racism and antisemitism.

Next year’s meetings are expected to focus on the rise of online hate crimes, in particular racism and antisemitism, the delegitimization of the state of Israel and Jewish people for developing and spreading the COVID-19 virus, legitimation of the fake news phenomena, and distribution of false and misleading content throughout the web.
