Honoring Outstanding Educators at Florida Atlantic University
Fighting Online Antisemitism proudly supported the 16th Annual Gutterman Family Outstanding Educator Award Dinner. The event was hosted by Florida Atlantic University’s Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education.
Representing FOA was Josh Steele, Vice President of Operations, who praised the initiative for honoring public school educators who employ innovative and compassionate methods to teach the history and enduring lessons of the Holocaust.
This year’s honorees — Lisa Brown, Hannah Levitt, and Lisa Schuurmans — were each awarded an educational journey to Poland. There, they will engage with Holocaust remembrance firsthand and return with insights to enrich their classrooms and communities.
The evening brought together Holocaust survivors, second-generation, and educational leaders — a moving testament to the enduring importance of Holocaust education in today’s world.
This initiative closely reflects FOA’s mission to confront Holocaust denial and distortion, advancing truth, remembrance, and education as essential tools in the fight against antisemitism and hatred.
“Education is our best hope against hatred. Help us keep that hope alive.”
— Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education, FAU
